White Separates Garcia And Benn After Heated Faceoff

Dana White intervened during a tense faceoff between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, physically separating the two fighters ahead of their WBC welterweight title clash Saturday at T-Mobile Arena.

The confrontation followed a press conference where Garcia and Benn traded barbs, with Garcia initially planning to incorporate an egg into the staredown before security confiscated it, per MMA Fighting. Garcia acknowledged the failed prop attempt, telling security "You caught me."

Garcia Questions Benn's Weight Cut Progress

Once face-to-face, Garcia talked trash while Benn responded with a shushing gesture before White decided he had seen enough and stepped between them. The UFC president is serving as host for the Zuffa Boxing event.

Much of the fight week discourse has centered on Benn's cut to 147 pounds. Benn insists he will make weight and "look great" doing it, while Garcia repeatedly claimed during Wednesday's media day that Benn is nowhere near 150 pounds yet, according to MMA Fighting's coverage of the press conference.

Garcia returns following his unanimous decision victory over Mario Barrios in February. Benn enters on a two-fight winning streak with stoppage wins over Regis Prograis and Chris Eubank Jr. The official weigh-in takes place Friday morning.
