Warren Would Have Put Joshua With Fury Next

Frank Warren has reacted to Anthony Joshua’s fight with Robert Helenius.
AJ was meant to face Dillian Whyte on August 12th, 2023. However, Helenius stepped in after Whyte failed a test as VADA discovered an ‘adverse finding.’
But rather than focus on Helenius, Warren addressed the idea of whether Joshua would end up fighting Fury.
Fury’s team had made two offers in the form of a 60-40 split to Joshua. However, both offers were not successful.
The first was done before the Gypsy King’s fight with Derek Chisora. However, Joshua’s camp claimed that the deadlines were not reasonable which is why the fight broke down.
In addition, another offer was made for a fight in the summer. Instead, Joshua’s team went with Whyte, and now Helenius, because of the need to prepare for a mega fight with Deontay Wilder.
But for all of Joshua’s planning, Warren made it clear that he would have put Joshua against Fury next.
Warren’s Comments
"If I was Anthony Joshua’s promoter I’d make him fight Tyson Fury. I even would’ve put him in against Fury two months after he fought Oleksandr Usyk, he didn’t take a beating in that fight. It may have been a psychologically damaging outcome for Joshua, but he has been psychologically gone for a couple of years now.
"You wouldn’t particularly want to see Joshua in the ring against Usyk again, so if he’s not going to fight Usyk, who is the man with most of the belts, and he doesn’t want to fight the holder of the WBC belt which is Tyson Fury, then what does he want to do," Warren
Nevertheless, putting AJ against Fury could have backfired. Another defeat would most likely have ruled out a fight with Wilder. However, in this way, AJ still has the chance to face Wilder and Fury anyway, given that the latter is a huge domestic fight.
So moving forward, there is a chance that we could see Joshua against Fury. Time will tell moving forward in the future.
