Walker Earns $100K After UFC Vegas 124 Finish
Johnny Walker pocketed a $100,000 bonus after stopping Waldo Cortes-Acosta in the third round of Saturday's UFC Vegas 124 main event in Las Vegas.
Walker and Cortes-Acosta split Fight of the Night honors, as Sherdog first reported, with each heavyweight taking home an extra check. Walker weathered heavy shots from Cortes-Acosta early before landing a head kick and back fist that forced the finish at 24-10, 1 NC.
Smith, Petersen Collect Performance Bonuses
Bantamweight Elijah Smith earned a Performance of the Night award for his knockout of Davey Grant, who crumpled from a left hook just one minute into the opening round. Smith moved to 11-1 as a pro with the stoppage.
Thomas Petersen claimed the other performance bonus after rallying to finish Gabriel Lourenco with ground strikes in the final round. Petersen completed the comeback with 13 seconds remaining in the third frame, evening his UFC record at 4-4 and improving to 12-5 overall as a professional.
