UFC 329 promo: McGregor vows to 'son' Holloway again
The UFC released a new promotional video for Conor McGregor's return against Max Holloway at UFC 329, with the Irishman declaring he will run through his opponent the same way he did in their first meeting thirteen years ago.
McGregor dominated Holloway in their 2013 bout, winning by unanimous decision with scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 30-26. The loss was Holloway's third in the UFC and nearly cost him his roster spot. "My next fight, if you lose, you probably get your papers going home," Holloway said in the promo, per MMA Mania. "And I was like, 'Brother, I'm not going home yet. I got a belt I need to win.'"
McGregor eyes welterweight title shot after Holloway
Holloway suggested McGregor is coming back with unfinished business in MMA after his ventures into boxing and other pursuits. McGregor, however, framed the matchup as a necessary step toward a third belt at welterweight, something he has targeted for years.
"Max is my child," McGregor said. "When we first competed, I sonned him. I'm going to go in and son him again." He added, "I'm going through Max. It is what it is."
UFC 329 takes place July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
