McGregor Says He's 'Going Through Max'
Conor McGregor has one message heading into UFC 329 — and he has been delivering it with the volume turned all the way up.
The UFC dropped a new promo for the Holloway rematch this week, and McGregor used it to make his position as clear as possible. He is not returning to participate. He is returning to go through someone.
"Max is my child. When we first competed, I sonned him. I'm going to go in and son him again. These men are not on my level. It is on me now to go and show that, and that's what I will do. I'm going through Max. It is what it is,” McGregor
Holloway arrived at the promo with a different kind of confidence. The fighter who lost to McGregor in 2013 — a one-sided 30-27, 30-27, 30-26 unanimous decision in what was just the third loss of his UFC career — used the memory of that night differently than McGregor did.
"The first time I fight Conor, that was thirteen years ago. After that fight, I had a two loss streak. My next fight, if you lose, you probably get your papers going home. And I was like, 'Brother, I'm not going home yet. I got a belt I need to win.' I was wanting to fight the best guys and prove that the best is 'Blessed,'" Holloway
A McGregor win over Holloway clears the path to a welterweight title shot — the third belt he has spoken about wanting for years.
