Alex Pereira Cleared After Recent Backlash
Alex Pereira has been cleared after claims he refused to take photos, declined to sign merchandise, and cut his appearance short at a recent London event.
“As the event organizer, Joyagear takes full responsibility for the organization, logistics, communication, and agreed deliverables surrounding these events. Alex Pereira trusted Joyagear to organize and manage the tour accordingly. Unfortunately, due to miscommunication and shortcomings on our side, the agreed deliverables were not communicated clearly to Alex. As a result, changes had to be made to parts of the events. We want to make one thing very clear: Alex Pereira was not at fault.”
The speed with which the original claims circulated reflects the environment Pereira currently operates in. His post-UFC Freedom 250 behaviour — the legal action against referee Herb Dean, the retirement comments, the public frustration — has created a backdrop against which a story about fan mistreatment was always going to find an audience.
The statement is unambiguous. The failures in communication and delivery belonged to the organiser, not the fighter. Pereira attended an event whose logistics had not been properly managed, and the shortcomings that attendees experienced were the result of that mismanagement rather than any refusal on his part.
