Tyson Fury faces Mariusz Wach in Thailand June 24 warmup

Tyson Fury is reportedly set to meet Mariusz Wach in Thailand on June 24, according to ESPN, in what appears to be a warmup bout ahead of a potential showdown with Anthony Joshua.

The former unified heavyweight champion will face the 45-year-old Polish veteran in Bangkok, per the report. Wach, who challenged Wladimir Klitschko for a world title in 2012, holds a 38-7 record but has not been in meaningful contention for years.

Fury's path to Joshua fight takes Thailand detour

Fury has not fought since his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December. The 36-year-old Englishman had been linked to a long-awaited domestic clash with Joshua for later this year, but appears to be taking an interim assignment first.

Wach weighed 283 pounds in his most recent outing, a decision loss to Jarrell Miller last October. The Polish heavyweight has been stopped just once in his career, by Dillian Whyte in 2019.

No venue or broadcaster has been announced for the June card. If the bout proceeds as reported, Fury would then be free to negotiate a summer or autumn date with Joshua, provided both men emerge unscathed from their respective tune-ups.
