Tyson Fury contract has no venue lock, but Zuffa barred from Joshua fight
Tyson Fury's signed contract for the Anthony Joshua superfight contains no requirement that the bout take place in the United Kingdom, according to a report from BoxingScene, though Anthony Joshua's deal locks him to a British venue.
Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, told BoxingScene that while Fury's agreement leaves the location flexible, Joshua's contract with Saudi financier Turki Alalshikh states the fight must occur in the U.K. "I don't know what [Fury's contract] says about the venue," Hearn said. "I just know what ours says: That, exclusively, the fight must take place in the U.K."
Hearn says Zuffa Boxing excluded from promotional role
Hearn confirmed that both fighters signed deals naming him and Frank Warren as the promoters of record, with Dana White's Zuffa Boxing explicitly barred from involvement. White claimed last week he would promote the fight and hinted it could land outside Britain, floating Las Vegas or Los Angeles as possibilities. BoxingScene reported that two boxing officials said Alalshikh proposed SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as a potential venue.
Hearn pushed back on White's statements. "Specifically in the contract it says Dana White, Zuffa cannot have any promotional involvement in the show," Hearn told reporters in Phoenix. "Dana doesn't know about the contract for the show that we signed and negotiated." He added that Alalshikh would need to renegotiate with Joshua's camp if he wanted to move the fight outside the U.K., and that Zuffa cannot assume control regardless of what White says publicly.
The mismatch between the two contracts leaves room for talks on a final site, though Hearn said the U.K. remains the expected destination. Fury fights a tune-up August 1 in Dublin, while Joshua meets Kristian Prenga on July 25 before the scheduled Joshua-Fury clash.
