Shane Fury Jr. and Johnboy Fury—nephews of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury—triumphed at the North West Regional Championships.

The success of the two brothers, sons of Tyson’s younger brother Shane, reinforces the idea that the “Fury family” boxing lineage remains strong. Tyson’s nephew, Fury Jr., proved his consistency by capturing the North West regional championship for the second time.

Meanwhile, Johnboy Fury, Shane’s younger son, secured his own North West regional title. Tyson Fury has publicly stated that while he supports his family, but he believes the “next generation” must carve out their own individual legacies.

Fury Reacts

“I think everybody needs to do their own path in life. There’s a great saying that ‘every man must carry his own cross in life’. What I’ve done has got nothing to do with what my kids have done or will go on to do. “I would expect them to have their own lives and own paths and not rely on Daddy and not think, ‘Oh my dad’s a world champion, so I don’t have to’.

“The boys are doing really well with the boxing. It’s like a Fury conveyor belt. “Shane has a couple of boys that’s both boxing, doing well in the amateurs. “The older brother has three or four sons that are probably all going to box and I’ve got three or four sons that are all going to box. Just like a conveyor belt thing going on,” Tyson Fury said

Tyson’s brother Shane has been instrumental in the boys’ development that mirrors the upbringing of Tyson and his brother Tommy. Both Shane Jr. and Johnboy are expected to use these regional titles as a springboard toward the National Amateur Championships later this year.
