Andre Fili questions Herb Dean over alleged illegal elbows at UFC Vegas 119

Andre Fili protested to referee Herb Dean immediately after his UFC Fight Night 279 defeat, arguing he absorbed illegal elbows to the back of the head during the stoppage sequence.

According to Sherdog, Dean examined the cut on Fili's head backstage and reviewed replay footage with the fighter while commission officials looked on. The incident occurred during the UFC Vegas 119 card Saturday night, when Dean waved off the fight with Fili bleeding heavily from the back of his skull.

Social media footage captured Fili pointing to the wound site as Dean inspected the damage. The veteran official then pulled up video of the finish with state athletic commission members present for the review session.

Fili has not publicly commented on whether he plans to file a formal protest. The Nevada Athletic Commission typically reviews referee stoppages involving potential rule violations within days of an event.
