Arman Tsarukyan wants to finish Mauricio Ruffy quickly at UFC 331 for a personal reason that has nothing to do with making a statement to the lightweight title picture.

Tsarukyan meets Ruffy in the co-main event of UFC 331 in Los Angeles, a fight that could finally cement his claim to a championship shot after multiple delays. But the top contender said his motivation for a fast finish comes from wanting to protect his father from the anxiety of watching a five-round battle.

"I don't need 25 minutes," Tsarukyan said, per Bloody Elbow. "I'm going there (to) make (the) job easy and quick. So, because my dad back at home... I don't want him to be nervous, you know, (by the fight being) so long. I want to make it as soon as possible and quick."

The Armenian has built a reputation for finishing opponents, but Ruffy presents a dangerous test as one of the division's most dynamic strikers. Both fighters enter the bout believing a win puts them on the doorstep of a title shot, though Tsarukyan has waited far longer for his opportunity.

Dana White has publicly expressed frustration with the delays keeping Tsarukyan from lightweight gold. A convincing win over Ruffy would leave the promotion with little choice but to book the title fight.

UFC 331 takes place in Los Angeles with no date confirmed yet for the card.
