Trump calls UFC White House fighters 'strongest, toughest men on Earth'
Donald Trump praised the fighters who competed at UFC Freedom 250 as the toughest athletes on the planet following the promotion's unprecedented South Lawn event earlier this month.
The June 14 card at the White House delivered seven knockouts and two title changes, per MMA Mania, with Trump appearing frequently during the broadcast and meeting victorious fighters immediately after their bouts.
Trump praises UFC athletes' mental toughness
Speaking about the competitors, Trump singled out their mental resilience alongside their physical attributes. "You're fighting the toughest people on Earth," he said. "These are the strongest, toughest men on Earth. No women in the crowd, which is nice. But these are the toughest men on Earth, and it's tremendous pressure. You know the muscles? You guys got the big, strong muscles, but you got this muscle to [points at head]. It takes much more than just the normal muscle to win those matches."
Trump added that the strategic element of mixed martial arts separates it from other combat sports. "The strategy and the genius that goes into it, a lot of people wouldn't understand that," he said. "There's a genius in sports. There's a great amount of courage and power that you have that a lot of other people don't have."
After the event wrapped, Trump floated the idea of hosting another UFC card at the White House. Dana White appeared lukewarm on the financial outlay but left the door open for a military-themed event next year, according to the report.
