MLB Clears Doctor After Links To Conor McGregor Controversy
Major League Baseball has cleared Dr. Neal ElAttrache and closed its investigation — but the questions surrounding Conor McGregor remain open.
The league announced the conclusion of its review following an investigation prompted by a New York Times report linking ElAttrache, the head physician for both the Dodgers and the Rams, to McGregor's alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs during his recovery from the broken tibia and fibula suffered against Dustin Poirier/
"Based on our interview, the review of relevant records, Dr. ElAttrache's long history of support for and cooperation with the Joint Drug Program and the fact that no Therapeutic Use Exemption requests of this nature have been submitted by Dr. ElAttrache or anyone else, we do not have any concerns regarding Dr. ElAttrache's treatment of MLB players, or his adherence to the Joint Drug Programs and related rules. We consider this matter closed," MLB said.
ElAttrache's response was also clear: "I purposely wasn't involved with his evaluation by the consultant nor with prescribing medication. My record is completely clean, including in this case.”
McGregor addressed the reports ahead of UFC 329 by saying he followed his doctors' instructions without asking what he was taking — a response that was candid.
