Trey Waters signs with PFL, faces Trukon Carson in August
Former UFC welterweight Trey Waters has joined the Professional Fighters League and will step into the SmartCage on Aug. 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to sources who spoke to Sherdog.
Waters will face homegrown prospect Trukon Carson in a welterweight bout at one of the promotion's Summer Series events. Carson, who goes by "The Carolina Gamedog," carries a 6-1 record with five first-round stoppages and has gone to a decision just once in his career.
Waters brings UFC experience to PFL welterweight division
Waters compiled a 2-1 record inside the Octagon and holds a 9-2 mark overall. He also competed on Dana White's Contender Series in 2022, dropping a submission loss to Gabriel Bonfim.
Carson last fought in March under the Fury FC banner and will get the biggest test of his career against the UFC veteran. Waters has not competed since his final UFC appearance earlier this year.
The Charlotte card will be topped by a middleweight showcase pitting Bryan Battle against Dalton Rosta. Also on the bill: Joshua Silveira meets Aaron Jeffery, Josh Fremd takes on Jhony Gregory, and Jay-Jay Wilson squares off with Amin Ayoub.
