Tresean Gore quit smoking marijuana cold turkey in December 2025, crediting the decision for turning around both his UFC career and his personal life.
The middleweight told MMA Mania that chronic weed use contributed to his early UFC losses, including a 2024 knockout loss to Cody Brundage when he was smoking 50-percent THC prerolls through fight week. Gore admitted he weighed 212 pounds by Monday, ate burritos until weigh-in day, and stopped eating for three days after his body went into shock. He was knocked out in the first round.

Gore On Faith And New Training Camp
Gore stopped because of faith, not career ambition alone. "God really got to me. The Holy Spirit really got to me," he said, per MMA Mania. "I didn't just quit weed because I wanted to have a better career. I quit weed because I wanted to be obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ." Since making the change, Gore bought a half-million-dollar house, signed a new UFC contract, welcomed a son, and scored the biggest win of his career.
The South Carolina native trains full-time now at The MMA Lab in Arizona. He faces Vicente Luque at UFC 330 on Saturday in a fight that could move him into the rankings with a win. Gore also addressed the backlash from his Ultimate Fighter claim that he would win a UFC title within one year, saying he regrets the delivery but not the ambition. He started training at 17 after a juvenile detention stint for dealing drugs and fighting.
