Top Rank Wins Haney vs Davis Purse Bid

James Wright
Senior Boxing Writer ·

Top Rank won the purse bid for Devin Haney's WBO welterweight title defense against Keyshawn Davis with an $8.55 million offer, dwarfing Teofimo Lopez's Takeover Promotions bid of $2.35 million.

The promotional company is eyeing October 3rd for the bout, according to Bad Left Hook, with Barclays Center, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas all under consideration as potential venues. Haney, who lifted the belt by beating Brian Norman Jr last November, will pocket 75 percent of the purse under WBO regulations — a $6.4 million payday. Davis will earn $2.1 million for the matchup.

Davis Moves Up From Junior Welterweight

The unbeaten Davis makes his welterweight debut after two fights at 140 pounds, where he stopped Jamaine Ortiz and Nahir Albright. Haney carries a 33-0 record with 15 knockouts into the defence, while Davis stands at 15-0 with 10 stoppages.

The fight is expected to stream on DAZN alongside a heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight eliminator between Ben Whittaker and Conor Wallace. Top Rank has not yet confirmed the final venue or undercard details.
