Suarez Dominates Jandiroba In Return To Title Picture
Tatiana Suarez is back in the strawweight title hunt after overwhelming Virna Jandiroba across three rounds at UFC Fight Night on Saturday.
Suarez won by unanimous decision, per ESPN, controlling Jandiroba on the ground and landing heavy strikes in what amounted to a one-sided performance. The California native has not lost since joining the UFC and appears next in line for a championship opportunity at 115 pounds.
Walker Scores Knockout Victory On Same Card
Johnny Walker also delivered on the card, reportedly securing a knockout finish in his latest outing. The Brazilian heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight has built momentum with consecutive stoppages and could be closing in on a top-five opponent.
Suarez last fought in August 2023 and had been sidelined by injury before Saturday. Her grappling advantage proved too much for Jandiroba, a decorated jiu-jitsu black belt who could not escape Suarez's mat control.
The UFC has not announced Suarez's next fight, but champion Zhang Weili is expected to defend the strawweight title in the first quarter of 2025.
