Strickland Tells Chimaev To Learn Weight Cutting After Shoulder Update
Sean Strickland said his shoulder is healing and took a shot at Khamzat Chimaev's conditioning ahead of a potential title rematch.
The middleweight champion has been sidelined since his upset win over Chimaev at UFC 328 in May but posted on social media that the injury is progressing. Strickland wrote that fans keep asking when he will fight again and that his shoulder is getting solid but needs more time, according to Sherdog.
Strickland Mocks Chimaev's Cardio Issues
Strickland then referenced Chimaev's repeated callouts for a rematch. "Want me to teach you how to cut weight so you can stop complaining for a second L?" he posted on X. The jab referenced Chimaev's visible fatigue during their first meeting, when the challenger gassed in the second round and abandoned his wrestling after a failed takedown attempt.
Strickland entered UFC 328 as a heavy underdog but outlanded Chimaev on the feet after the Chechen faded to win by unanimous decision. Chimaev briefly floated a move to heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight following the loss but has since pushed for another crack at the belt.
No date has been set for Strickland's return to the octagon.
