Van Damme Stars In 'Prison Fight' Action-Thriller

Jean-Claude Van Damme is returning to the world he helped define, this time from the other side of the camera.

Prison Fight draws from one of combat sports' most unusual real-world events. The film follows three brothers whose path toward championship glory collapses, with the youngest — a rising boxing star — eventually traveling to Thailand to compete in an underground MMA tournament where hardened inmates face elite outside competitors for something more meaningful than a belt: a shot at freedom.

Prison Fight is a real event held at Thailand's Bang Kwang Central Prison, where inmates and professional fighters have competed in legitimate MMA bouts, with winning inmates earning reduced sentences. The event has run for years and attracted international attention for the strangeness and seriousness of its premise — men fighting inside prison walls, with professional records and actual liberty on the line simultaneously.

The rest of the cast reflects a blend of established French-language cinema talent and combat sports authenticity.
