Stevenson Says Never To Haney Fight

Shakur Stevenson has declared he will never fight Devin Haney, bringing a definitive close to one of boxing's most prolonged and frustrating near-misses.

The four-division champion took to X to vent his frustration, placing the blame squarely on the Haney camp for stringing him along.

"I'm too real for fake shit," Stevenson wrote. "I allowed these same dudes who played bitch games wit me years ago to amp me up and get me hyped for a fight that's not even gone happen. This my last time letting these dudes clout chase my name when at heart I just wanted a fight on the terms that was agreed on. I won't be entertaining the circus anymore. Sorry, boxing and boxing fans, but u will never get that fight. Door is closed… no more response from me ever again."

The negotiations had been derailed repeatedly. Stevenson pushed for the fight at a 144-pound catchweight throughout, while Haney's WBO welterweight title added another layer of complication. When Keyshawn Davis emerged as the WBO mandatory challenger, Stevenson publicly urged Haney to vacate rather than defend — insisting he didn't want to block his friend's path. Davis later declined the WBO purse bid after Top Rank secured promotional rights, temporarily clearing the way for Stevenson-Haney to be revisited. It wasn't enough.

Despite further public back-and-forth, no deal was ever reached. Stevenson has now ended the conversation from his side — permanently, he says.
