Shakur Stevenson says he has been released from Zuffa Boxing just three months after signing in July.
Shakur said he spent eight weeks training for fights that never happened: “I requested to be released from Zuffa Boxing and over the weekend my request was granted. I’m officially a free agent, I’m now taking my career into my own hands, starting my own promotional company,” Stevenson.

Talks for a November 28 fight with Devin Haney rcollapsed over weight and rehydration terms, and discussions with WBA junior welterweight champion Gary Antuanne Russell went nowhere. Stevenson plans to pursue fights at lightweight and junior welterweight, and is interested in eventually moving to 147, but only on his own terms.
