Shakur Stevenson signs multi-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing
Four-division world champion Shakur Stevenson has signed with Zuffa Boxing, the UFC-backed promotion announced Thursday.
ESPN confirmed the multi-fight agreement, marking a major acquisition for the upstart outfit as it builds its stable ahead of its promotional launch. Stevenson, who has held titles at featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight, reportedly left Top Rank after his deal expired following a February win over William Zepeda.
What Stevenson signing means for Zuffa Boxing
The move positions Zuffa to compete immediately for marquee matchups at 135 and 140 pounds. Stevenson has long been regarded as one of boxing's slickest technicians, though his defensive style has drawn criticism for lacking aggression.
Zuffa Boxing is expected to announce its first card in the coming weeks. Stevenson's next opponent and fight date remain unconfirmed.
