Shakur Stevenson Says He's Moved Past Gervonta Davis

Shakur Stevenson is claiming he's outgrown any need for Gervonta Davis when it comes to landing major paydays, crediting his new Zuffa deal.

"Y'all favorite fighter is scared of me. He sees now that I don't need him like he thought. My next fight gone make u cry," Stevenson

Davis hit back by calling Stevenson a ducker and tossing in a line about "ten percent," without explaining the reference.

Stevenson joined Zuffa last summer but has yet to step in the ring for them. His focus is Gary Antuanne Russell now that Devin Haney talks collapsed, though no fight is confirmed.

Beating Russell would set up a lightweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light welterweight unification run, but the choice of opponent will determine whether fans tune in. Davis serves as a warning of what stalled momentum looks like: a long layoff, a draw with Lamont Roach and a shortage of dangerous opponents. Trading insults online can't replace fighting someone fans respect.
