What's next for Serrano, Han and Holm after MVPW-03?
Amanda Serrano matched Christy Martin's all-time women's knockout record with 32 stoppages after finishing Cheyenne Hanson at MVPW-03 in El Paso on Saturday night. The WBO and WBA featherweight champion told ESPN ahead of the bout that she plans to wrap up her 17-year career by the end of 2026, focused on reaching 50 wins and breaking the knockout mark before hanging up her gloves.
Serrano has no interest in facing fellow Most Valuable Promotions stablemate Alycia Baumgardner despite the unified junior lightweight champion calling for the fight. "I've done the big fights already," she said, per ESPN. "I'm happy fighting my mandatories." The Puerto Rico resident wants her final bout on the island or in New York, likely against a lower-profile mandatory challenger rather than another pound-for-pound name.
Han escapes with controversial decision over Holm
Stephanie Han kept her WBA lightweight title via majority decision over Holly Holm in their rematch, though the scorecards — 96-94, 96-94, and 95-95 — sparked immediate debate. Holm outlanded Han 107-70 in total punches and controlled the second half of the fight, but judges rewarded Han's fast start. After the win, Han called out Katie Taylor, citing revenge for her sister Jennifer Han's loss to the Irish star years ago. "I came back to boxing to help my sister prepare for Katie Taylor, and it would be an honor to be her last fight," she said.
Han's path to Taylor looks unlikely given the unified junior welterweight champion's reluctance to face fellow titleholders without marquee appeal. A more realistic target is WBC and WBO lightweight champion Caroline Dubois, who traveled to El Paso and pushed for the unification bout at the post-fight press conference. Dubois has been chasing Baumgardner without success and could pivot to Han next.
Holm turned in a sharp performance at 44 but dropped to 1-2 in her boxing return after 12 years in MMA. ESPN reports she's considering either a Taylor bout or a move back to MVP MMA, where matchups with Ronda Rousey — who stopped Gina Carano in 17 seconds earlier this month — or Carano herself would carry significant interest. Holm knocked out Rousey at UFC 193 in 2015, making that rematch a natural draw if Rousey continues fighting. Holm's next move lands by late summer, whether in the ring or the cage.
