Dumas Returns Against Gall After UFC Cut Reversal
Sedriques Dumas will fight Mickey Gall at UFC Vegas 121 next month despite being cut from the UFC roster in July.
MMA Mania first reported the middleweight booking, which was later confirmed by Marcel Dorff. The bout takes place at Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Dumas was released last month after a disastrous stretch that included three losses, one no-contest ruled after an illegal low blow, and multiple arrests that required him to wear an ankle monitor. UFC officials had declined to re-book him several times when the monitor prevented travel.
Gall Riding Four-Fight Losing Streak
Gall has fared little better since his 2016 submission win over CM Punk launched his UFC tenure. The welterweight turned middleweight has won just five fights in a decade on the roster and dropped his last four bouts, most recently getting knocked out by Ramiz Brahimaj.
Fight fans reacted online with confusion over the matchup, which pairs two fighters who appeared headed for release. UFC Vegas 121 is scheduled for September at the promotion's Apex facility.
