Sebastian Fundora picks Tim Tszyu over Errol Spence
WBC welterweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora does not expect Errol Spence Jr. to beat Tim Tszyu when the two former titleholders clash in Australia later this year.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Fundora cited Tszyu's recent activity and the location of the bout as decisive factors. "I favor Tszyu," he said, per Bad Left Hook. "He's been more active. And they're fighting in Australia. That's a big factor. That's a huge factor. I don't know if Spence has ever even been to Australia."
Fundora questions Spence ring rust after three-year layoff
Fundora expressed concern about the length of time since Spence last competed at a high level. The former unified champion has not fought since his September 2023 loss to Terence Crawford, and Fundora believes the extended break will be visible when the bell rings. "That layoff is going to show some," Fundora said. "This guy's been out of the circle for what, maybe three years? That's too much time, and you know he wasn't training."
Fundora also addressed speculation about a potential unification with IBF champion Jaron Ennis, who recently outpointed Xander Zayas in a competitive fight that ended with Ennis pulling away. Fundora called it entertaining despite streaming issues on DAZN, and said a matchup with Ennis would be worthwhile. He believes he can beat Ennis either by outboxing him or engaging in a firefight, pointing to Zayas's conditioning struggles once the pace increased.
The tall southpaw defended his WBC strap against Keith Thurman earlier this year and said any formal announcements about his next defense would come when contracts are signed. For now, his attention is on the Spence-Tszyu bout and how the layoff narrative plays out in real time.
