Bella Mir targets Dana White's Contender Series debut this summer
Bella Mir will reportedly step into the cage for Dana White's Contender Series this summer, per MMA Mania.
Mir, daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, brings strong wrestling and jiu-jitsu credentials to the women's bantamweight division. She competed at the NCAA National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship in March and has shown slick submission work on the regional scene, including a hammerlock finish at Fury Challenger Series 14.
What Mir's arrival means for women's bantamweight
The 135-pound women's ranks have been short on fresh contenders since Raquel Pennington claimed the title, making Mir's potential arrival notable for a division that has struggled to produce new stars. Her grappling background mirrors the path taken by several recent breakout fighters who used the Contender Series as a springboard to UFC contracts.
Mir's exact opponent and date have not been announced. The Contender Series typically runs weekly from June through September, with Dana White awarding contracts to standout performers after each card.
