Schofield Pursues Zepeda Unification At 135

Floyd Schofield wants William Zepeda next for a lightweight unification fight, the unbeaten prospect told Fight Hub TV in an interview published this week.

Schofield, who recently secured a world title shot at 135 pounds, said he and his father are targeting Zepeda to begin a potential run at undisputed before jumping to junior welterweight. "Me and my dad, we're looking to fight Zepeda because that's a unification that we can make, then I could go clean up the rest of the belts," he said, per Bad Left Hook.

Schofield's Lightweight Hit List Before 140 Move

The prospect nicknamed Kid Austin also named Abdullah Mason and Gary Russell Jr. as fights he wants before leaving the division. He said he gave Russell his word on a matchup and plans to honor that commitment.

Asked about a potential return from Gervonta Davis, Schofield said he would welcome the fight if Tank wanted his belt back. He called Davis the supposed boogeyman of the weight class and noted that beating him would silence critics.

Schofield added that Shakur Stevenson remains a long-term target regardless of weight class. "Whatever weight class he in, I'm going to get a belt at that weight class," he said. "I'm going to show them how to deal with that type of style."

No date has been announced for Schofield's next fight.
