Schaub Blasts Garry's Promotional Skills Ahead Of UFC 330

Brendan Schaub says Ian Machado Garry should shut up and fight.

The former UFC heavyweight went after Garry's promotional abilities on his podcast, calling them the worst in the sport despite praising the Irishman's skills inside the cage. Schaub told listeners on episode 521 of Big Brown Breakdown that Garry's media appearances ahead of his welterweight title shot against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 have been backfiring, per MMA Fighting.

Garry Compared To LeBron James In Harsh Critique

"That being said, outside of the octagon, he might have the worst interviews I've ever seen," Schaub said. "His PR is so bad. He's the only guy I'd ever go, 'Let's not do any promo for this fight. You're turning everybody off.' It's so bad."

Schaub went further with a basketball analogy, saying he normally disagrees when fans tell athletes to stick to their sport but makes an exception for Garry. "You know how people told LeBron James, 'Shut up and dribble'? I never agreed with that. Until I heard Ian Garry do an interview. I'm like, 'Shut up and fight.' Shut up and fight, because you're turning everybody off."

Garry earned the Aug. 15 title shot at Xfinity Mobile Arena after beating former champion Belal Muhammad by decision last November. The bout marks his first crack at UFC gold.
