Rousey Blasts Campbell Over UFC Marketing

Tom Rashid

Ronda Rousey has doubled down on her criticism of UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell, months after her successful return against Gina Carano under the Most Valuable Promotions banner.

Speaking to Fight Culture, the former UFC women's bantamweight champion said Campbell dismissed the Carano matchup when it was first pitched to UFC leadership, telling Carano he did not know how to market two fighters in their forties. Rousey told the outlet that Campbell's refusal to book the fight created an opportunity for a rival promotion to emerge.

Rousey Claims Campbell Created UFC's Biggest Rival

Rousey stopped Carano by submission at MVP MMA 1 in May. She has remained friendly with UFC CEO Dana White, per BJ Penn, but continues to target Campbell in interviews. White initially suggested Rousey's comments were promotional tactics for the Carano bout, but the former champion has kept up the attacks since.

Rousey said she is working with Most Valuable Promotions behind the scenes and believes the organization can take market share from the UFC. She has stated she is not planning another fight and is focused on expanding her family.
