Sanchez Touts Mexico P.I. As UFC's Next Talent Hub

New UFC lightweight Silvestre Sanchez says the promotion's Performance Institute in Mexico City is stacked with talent hunting finishes.

Sanchez earned his contract with a third-round knockout of Liam McCracken at Dana White's Contender Series last night, Sherdog reports. The finish came off a clean left hook after both fighters had their moments in what turned into an instant classic.

Mexico P.I. Fighters Trained To Finish

Sanchez, who now holds a 10-1 record with nine finishes, trains at the Mexico City facility and believes the UFC should mine it for fresh blood. "We train a lot at the P.I. in Mexico and we say that we're finishing fights," Sanchez said after the win. "What better place to finish a fight than in the Contender Series? I'm Mexican, I got the hunger and I got those balls. What better opportunity than to be here with my team from the P.I. There's so much going on there, so much talent, so much coaching."

The knockout capped a back-and-forth lightweight scrap that saw McCracken drop to 8-2. Sanchez landed the decisive blow in the final round to secure the contract.

Sanchez joins a growing roster of fighters from the Mexico City facility looking to make noise in the UFC. No word yet on when the lightweight will make his promotional debut.
