Rousey Blasts UFC's Campbell After Netflix Win

Ronda Rousey is still burning over the UFC's decision to pass on her fight with Gina Carano.

The former bantamweight champion told The Fight Culture that UFC COO Hunter Campbell dismissed the matchup as unmarketable, only to watch her Netflix bout with Carano shatter streaming records in May. "It was extremely validating, especially after Hunter Campbell told Gina that he didn't know how he was gonna market a couple of 40-year-olds, so it was really nice to take that comment and throw it in his face," Rousey said, per MMA Mania.

Rousey Opens Door To Second MVP Fight

Rousey went further, calling Campbell arrogant and chauvinistic for letting the fight slip to Jake Paul's MVP promotion. She credited the Netflix event with creating what she termed the UFC's biggest rival, though the 39-year-old acknowledged MVP's thin roster beyond aging stars like Nate Diaz and Francis Ngannou.

Asked if she would book another fight, Rousey left the door open. She said the team is decompressing after the event and considering what comes next. Her preference is that MVP continues staging major events regardless of her involvement, filling what she sees as a gap in modern MMA.

Rousey returned from a decade away to submit Carano in 17 seconds at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. No announcement on her next appearance has been made.
