Hearn Confirms Move To MVP For Women's Boxing
Eddie Hearn has acknowledged that Matchroom cannot secure the biggest opportunities for his top female fighters without partnering with MVP, who now control the vast majority of women's boxing talent.
Speaking to media this week, the Matchroom boss said he looked at his roster and realised the path to undisputed championships and legacy-defining matchups runs through MVP, who he estimates hold 90 percent of the women's boxing market. That reality drove the recently announced alliance between the two promotional entities.
Hearn On Why MVP Partnership Made Sense
The promoter told Bad Left Hook that MVP chief Nakisa Bidarian approached him about the collaboration months ago, and he ultimately decided it was the only way to provide meaningful career progression for his champions. "I can't guarantee that I can provide those fighters with opportunities to unify, become undisputed, make the most money they can in the sport if MVP have 90% of the roster of women's boxing," Hearn said.
Under the arrangement, a significant number of Matchroom's top female fighters will appear on MVP cards while still working under Hearn's guidance. The goal is to facilitate unification bouts and other marquee matchups that would otherwise remain out of reach.
Hearn framed the partnership as a practical necessity rather than a retreat from the women's side of the sport, insisting Matchroom will continue investing in female boxing. "We need to be in those big fights, and I can't deliver those big fights for them if they're all with MVP," he said. No specific fighters or dates have been announced yet.
