Rosas Pulled From UFC Vegas 120 After Herpes Scare

Tom Rashid

Jessie Rosas was pulled from his UFC Vegas 120 debut hours before weigh-ins after a cageside physician flagged a forehead wound as a possible herpes infection. His younger brother, UFC bantamweight Raul Rosas Jr., says the doctor got it wrong.

The elder Rosas was scheduled to face Miles Johns on Saturday's card in Las Vegas. Instead, Gianni Vazquez stepped in on short notice and the bout was moved to featherweight to accommodate the swap, per MMA Mania.

What Raul Rosas Jr. Said About The Scratch

Raul posted on social media that a doctor refused to clear his brother despite being told the mark was a mat burn. "Doctor says it's herpes, which he's wrong, but he didn't want to admit he's wrong and didn't clear him to fight," the younger Rosas wrote. "We know it's just a mat burn but there's nothing we can do to change this doctor's mind."

Vazquez last fought for UFC at Vegas 113 earlier this year in a one-fight stint. Johns weighed in Friday and the featherweight bout remains on the card.

Jessie Rosas is expected to be rebooked later this year for another crack at his Octagon debut.
