Ronda Rousey fires back at Hunter Campbell over UFC viewership
Ronda Rousey is not letting Hunter Campbell off the hook.
The UFC on Thursday released viewership figures for its White House event, revealing an average domestic audience of 7 million viewers. That trails the 9.3 million who watched Rousey's return against Gina Carano at MVP MMA 1 in May, a matchup that aired on Netflix. Rousey marked the occasion with a direct shot at the UFC's Chief Business Officer. "Lmao! Kiss my ass Hunter Campbell," she wrote, as MMA Fighting reported.
Rousey's beef with Campbell dates to comeback talks
Rousey had made clear during her media tour that Campbell allegedly dismissed her and women's MMA when she first explored a UFC return. That slight reportedly fueled her decision to stage a comeback outside the promotion. MVP's debut MMA card delivered the numbers to back up her choice, though the comparison comes with caveats. Netflix's reach dwarfs Paramount Plus, and the UFC event took place on a Sunday rather than the traditional Saturday slot. International viewership for the White House show has yet to be disclosed.
MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian acknowledged both events as wins for the sport. "Tremendous success for UFC 250, which is great for the continued growth of the sport, the fighters and the fans," he posted. He noted that MVP had Netflix while the UFC had the White House and one of the most recognized global figures in President Trump, calling both productions successes regardless of the head-to-head numbers.
Rousey, however, appears satisfied with her edge over Campbell. The former bantamweight champion has not indicated whether she plans to fight again or if the Carano bout was a one-off.
