Caroline Dubois blasts IBF champion over unification purse demand

Aaron Clarke
Lightweight & Featherweight Writer ·

Caroline Dubois says talks with IBF champion Elif Nur Turhan collapsed after the Turkish fighter demanded what she called a ridiculous purse figure. Dubois holds the WBC and IBO lightweight titles.

“I don't even know what happened. From what I hear and from what my promotions are telling me and my team is telling me, they made her an offer and she asked for such an astronomical, ridiculous amount. It was absurd. It was crazy.”

What Caroline Dubois said

Dubois was targeting Turhan for a unification bout to add the IBF belt to her collection. The British lightweight told Sky Sports that her team made an offer but Turhan's counter-demand was far beyond the proposed terms. No alternative opponent has been named.

What it moves

Dubois is now exploring other options at lightweight after the Turhan fight stalled. Her promoters have not confirmed whether they will return with a revised offer or pivot to a different challenger. The IBF belt remains with Turhan for now.
