Prajanchai Returns Against Wang After Year-Long Layoff

Prajanchai Pongsuphan PK skipped the safe route back from injury and booked a fight with a former title challenger instead.

The two-sport ONE World Champion returns at The Inner Circle 35 in Bangkok on October 16 to face Wang Junguang in a three-round strawweight kickboxing contest, per BJPenn.com. The matchup streams live from Lumpinee Stadium and marks Prajanchai's first appearance in nearly a year after losing the kickboxing crown to Jonathan Di Bella and subsequently requiring surgery.

Prajanchai Rejects Tune-Up Fight For Wang Test

The Thai superstar chose a risky opponent for his return rather than an easier tune-up. Wang, 31, challenged for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title in 2019 after stopping Federico Roma in the first round, then went five rounds with Sam-A Gaiyanghadao before losing a split decision to Aslanbek Zikreev in 2020. Wang trained at the Shaolin Temple under his father before becoming a former Enfusion Kickboxing Champion.

Prajanchai debuted in ONE Championship in 2021 by dethroning Sam-A for the strawweight Muay Thai title. He dropped that belt to Joseph Lasiri in 2022 but reclaimed it in under 90 seconds later that year. In 2024, he added the kickboxing crown by beating Di Bella to become a two-sport champion, then defended the Muay Thai title against Ellis Badr Barboza in 2025 before the injury derailed his run.

The comeback bout tests whether Prajanchai's surgically repaired body can handle a veteran who once came within a whisker of winning a world title. Wang stepped away from ONE Championship after the Zikreev loss but returns with the Shaolin pedigree and striking credentials that made him a threat four years ago.
