Perry Suffers Dislocated Shoulder In Jenkins Upset

Mike Perry dislocated his shoulder in the opening round and lost by first-round TKO to Brandon Jenkins at Brand Duel in Orlando on Saturday night.

Jenkins accepted the bout on 48 hours' notice after Dillon Danis withdrew earlier in the week, as MMA Fighting first reported. Perry's left shoulder separated during an exchange in the opening frame, and Jenkins capitalized with a brutal body kick that dropped his opponent. The referee allowed the action to continue despite the visible injury, and Jenkins finished the sequence at 2:38 of the first round with ground strikes.

Jenkins Seizes Opportunity After Late Call-Up

The late replacement had no hesitation when the matchup came together. "What is it 15 hours' notice?" Jenkins said afterward. "It was a no-brainer, I was coming out here. They called me, I said yes. I asked for Nate Diaz but I got Mike Perry. Hopefully I can get a good fight with Nate Diaz next."

Perry opened aggressively before Jenkins landed a spinning back elbow that briefly stalled the momentum. Perry connected with a clean left hand moments before the injury occurred. Replays showed the shoulder separating while Perry held onto Jenkins with his left arm and threw right uppercuts.

Medical staff attended to Perry on the canvas for several minutes as they worked to reset the shoulder. The timeline for Perry's return remains unclear, but Jenkins walks away with the signature win of his career.
