Page Sends Ruziboev To Hospital After Oblique Kick
Michael Venom Page's oblique kick sent Nursulton Ruziboev to hospital for surgery following their unanimous decision bout at UFC Paris on Saturday.
Page won a low-output 15-minute fight with 29-28 scores across the board, landing just 12 significant strikes to Ruziboev's eight, per MMA Mania. The English striker connected with an oblique kick that targeted his opponent's knee, then mimicked an injury gesture immediately afterward.
Ruziboev Undergoes Surgery Months After ACL Procedure
New footage showed Ruziboev being wheeled through a hospital on a stretcher for surgery. The severity of the knee injury and expected recovery timeline remain unclear.
The timing compounds the situation for Ruziboev, who underwent double ACL surgery earlier this year. The Uzbekistan fighter returned at UFC Baku weeks after that procedure and beat Andrey Pulyaev via first-round neck crank, then fought Page just three months later.
Page's UFC run has featured scattered moments of brilliance inside largely inactive fights. The spinning back elbows and leaping kicks come in flashes, but the output stays minimal while the oblique kicks — a technique that targets the knee joint — land with effect.
Ruziboev becomes another addition to the list of fighters hospitalized after UFC Paris.
