NSAC Pursues Holloway Purse After UFC 329 Win
Max Holloway could lose part of his UFC 329 purse for jumping the cage after beating Conor McGregor.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission meets Wednesday to decide whether Holloway, Paddy Pimblett, and Gable Steveson will face disciplinary fines for leaving the Octagon during the July 11 card at T-Mobile Arena, MMA Mania reports. Pimblett stopped Benoit Saint Denis while Steveson rolled through Elisha Ellison on the same night.
Commission Stance On Cage Exits
Pimblett's manager Graham Boylan told MMA Junkie the regulation serves no purpose. "Yes, it's the fight game, and systems need to be in play to make it all work, but this rule does nothing to support that," he said, per the outlet. "It's 2026. Apply a little common sense." Diego Lopes paid five thousand dollars for a similar violation at UFC 300.
Nevada officials have enforced the policy strictly since Khabib Nurmagomedov attacked Dillon Danis outside the cage at UFC 229 in 2018, a card that also featured McGregor. The former featherweight and lightweight champion is recovering from knee surgery following his loss to Holloway and has blamed ring conditions for the injury.
Holloway dismissed those claims in a YouTube appearance. "I don't know what he's talking about because I didn't fall," he said, according to MMA Mania. "Him talking about this 'generational beating' — the dude is delusional. To me, he felt slow in there. He felt slow; he looked old." The Hawaiian added that McGregor appeared compromised from the opening bell. The commission hearing is set for midweek.
