Njokuani Blasts Commission Over UFC 330 Scale Error
Chidi Njokuani blamed Pennsylvania Athletic Commission officials for the weigh-in confusion that forced him to step on the scales twice before UFC 330.
Njokuani initially registered half a pound over the 171-pound welterweight limit Friday morning, then returned minutes later to make weight behind the privacy screen. Speaking at the post-fight press conference after his upset decision win over Joel Alvarez, Njokuani told reporters he had already made weight on the digital scale backstage with his underwear on, per Sherdog.
Njokuani Threatened Scale Official After Backstage Dispute
When the official scale showed him heavy, the commission asked him to cut the remaining weight. Njokuani refused. He said he confronted the official in charge of the scales, warning that the equipment needed to be recalibrated. The second reading showed him on weight.
The win snapped a two-fight skid for Njokuani, who improved to 26-12 overall. He controlled Alvarez on the feet across three rounds to earn the decision Saturday in Pennsylvania.
