Tyson Confronts 'Dark Side' In Raw Netflix Documentary

Mike Tyson will confront the chaos that defined his life in a four-part Netflix documentary series premiering Oct. 13.

The streaming giant released the first trailer for TYSON on Thursday, offering a raw glimpse at the former undisputed heavyweight champion's journey from Brooklyn street kid to youngest titleholder in division history — and the violent unraveling that followed. "This is the dark side of me," Tyson says in the clip, per MMA Mania. "That's just who I became. Addicted to chaos."

Tyson's Turbulent Rise And Fall

Tyson destroyed Trevor Berbick in 1986 at age 20 to become the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. He unified the belts and became one of the sport's most feared figures. His collapse was equally spectacular: a rape conviction and prison term, financial collapse, substance abuse struggles, and the 1997 disqualification for biting Evander Holyfield's ear. When the documentary's producer pushes him to explain the chaos, Tyson grows visibly uncomfortable, responding, "You're making this difficult for me now."

Directed by Floyd Russ, who helmed Untold: Malice at the Palace and American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing, the series will feature interviews with Tyson's wife Lakiha Spicer and son Miguel, who reportedly discuss the damaged man behind the public persona. Netflix announced the project shortly after Tyson's November 2024 return against Jake Paul, a bout that drew massive viewership despite Tyson's lopsided unanimous decision loss at age 58.

All four episodes drop Oct. 13 on Netflix.
