Feldman Confirms Perry's Value Decreased After Loss

BKFC president David Feldman said Mike Perry's recent knockout loss will likely hurt the fighter's earning power when contract talks resume.

Perry dislocated his shoulder during a headlining bout against UFC veteran Brandon Jenkins at Duel Arena in Orlando over the weekend and was stopped by technical knockout. The setback came after original opponent Dillon Danis withdrew with an injury, and Perry forfeited half his purse in the process.

What Perry's Loss Means For BKFC Negotiations

Feldman told MMA Fighting that while the defeat was not a dominant beating, it still affects Perry's market position. "It's a loss but do people consider he got his ass kicked? I don't think so," Feldman said. "It definitely, probably decreases his value a little bit, and we're going to have to talk about it. Who's knocking on his door? The whole negotiation's going to go around who else is knocking on his door."

Perry, who turns 35 later this month, holds a 6-0 record in BKFC with four consecutive knockout finishes and currently reigns as the promotion's King of Violence champion. His run has been credited with raising the organization's profile over the past four years.

Feldman indicated the promotion is now focusing on newly signed Darren Till, who joined BKFC in April and faces Yoel Romero at BKFC 94 on Sept. 26 in Manchester. Perry has not announced his next move inside the BKFC ring.
