Mickey Gall says fatherhood forced him to grow up ahead of his UFC return later this month.

Gall faces Sedriques Dumas at UFC Fight Night 289 on Sept. 26 in Las Vegas, his first bout in nearly two years. His daughter Sainty was born shortly before his last fight, and Gall told Home of Fight that becoming a parent changed his entire approach to the sport. "I got an awesome daughter, an awesome wife, so I got to be an awesome dad, an awesome husband," he said, per Sherdog. "It made me grow up so much. When I came into this, I was a kid. I'm excited to reintroduce myself as a man now."

Gall Returns Against Struggling Dumas

Gall joined the UFC in 2016 but struggled to find consistency inside the cage, compiling a 7-7 record. The welterweight was briefly released after his contract expired in 2022, returned in 2024, then dropped two more fights before stepping away. Dumas presents a winnable matchup on paper — the 10-5 fighter lost three straight, all via stoppage, and was himself released from the roster in July following a felony conviction before being reinstated.

Both men are fighting for their UFC futures. Gall weighed in at 170 pounds for the matchup, which takes place at Meta Apex in Las Vegas with no crowd.
