McKee Targets PFL Rankings In Rodriguez Clash

Rhys McKee will face Ernesto Rodriguez at PFL Dubai on Nov. 14 in a welterweight matchup that could push the Northern Irishman into the promotion's rankings.

McKee secured his first PFL win in April with a decision over Alex Lohore at the Belfast event. Rodriguez, ranked seventh in the division, is coming off a third-round stoppage loss to Thad Jean in a short-notice title challenge last July.

McKee Eyes Rankings Breakthrough After UFC Struggles

The 15-7-1 McKee went 1-5 across two UFC runs before capturing the Cage Warriors welterweight title. He told BBC that a win over Rodriguez carries major weight. "I've seen how big an event is there and know it'll be a special night, having a fight that will put me straight into the rankings with a tough opponent in Ernesto; it's all to play for," he said.

Rodriguez will look to rebound at the Coca Cola Arena after his loss to Jean, who stopped him via technical knockout in the third round. The Cuban-American sits at 1-1 in the PFL since joining the promotion.
