McGregor Promises To Sell Final UFC Fight
Conor McGregor says he outsells every fighter in combat sports and plans to prove it one more time when he returns from knee surgery.
The former two-division UFC champion took to social media after Canelo Alvarez's win over Christian Mbilli on Saturday to compare his drawing power to boxing's biggest star. McGregor told followers he beats Canelo and every other fighter in sales, per MMA Fighting, and pledged to raise the bar even higher for his final contracted bout with the UFC.
McGregor targets 2027 return for final contracted fight
McGregor, who is recovering from ACL surgery, wrote that he competes against global events like World Cup semifinals and still delivers record numbers. "I'm going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight," he posted. "See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records."
The Irishman holds the UFC pay-per-view record with his 2018 bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov. His 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather ranks as the second biggest pay-per-view event in combat sports history behind only Mayweather-Pacquiao.
McGregor has targeted International Fight Week 2027 for his comeback fight, which is expected to close out his current UFC contract.
