McGregor Teases Last Dance After UFC 329 Disaster

Conor McGregor says his next fight will be his last.

The former two-division UFC champion posted to Instagram that he plans to return at International Fight Week 2027 following the torn ACL and meniscus he suffered 69 seconds into his comeback against Max Holloway at UFC 329 earlier this month. As MMA Mania reports, McGregor wrote the bout would mark his final appearance.

McGregor's Contract Status And Future Options

McGregor has one fight remaining on his current UFC deal, per MMA Mania. If he does not re-sign before stepping into the cage next summer, the Irishman will hit free agency for the first time in his career. That opens the door to offers from rival promotions, including a potential Nate Diaz rematch under MVP MMA on Netflix, a move to bare knuckle boxing with BKFC, or another boxing match.

The timing presents complications for UFC. McGregor will be 39 by next July and is riding a three-fight skid. His last win came against Donald Cerrone in January 2020. "What was to be a generational beating is now to be reset," McGregor wrote. "IFW 2027 The Last Dance."

Before the injury, McGregor reportedly had signed to fight in April 2027. Medical staff confirmed he tore both his ACL and meniscus in Las Vegas and faces roughly 12 months on the shelf. Whether the Last Dance label sticks or becomes another promotional tease remains to be seen.
