Arman Tsarukyan vs. Charles Oliveira 2 set for UFC 331 in LA
Arman Tsarukyan will rematch Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 331 on Sept. 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, MMA Mania reports.
The bout reunites the second-ranked lightweight contender with the former divisional champion and current BMF titleholder after Tsarukyan took a split decision over Oliveira at UFC 300 in a tight three-round contest. Whether the BMF strap will be on the line or if the matchup will officially headline the card remains unclear, according to the report.
Tsarukyan returns to the city where he pulled out of title shot
Tsarukyan dismantled Dan Hooker inside two rounds at UFC Qatar in his last octagon appearance but has since competed regularly under the Real American Freestyle banner, where he holds a 7-1 record. His most recent RAF outing saw him drop a decision to Colby Covington at RAF 11. The Armenian standout pulled out of a lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev one day before UFC 311 in Los Angeles, making this his first trip back to a city with a substantial Armenian population that could treat him like a local.
Oliveira captured the BMF title with a lopsided decision over Max Holloway at UFC 326 and has won two straight since suffering a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317. With Justin Gaethje still weighing his options at the top of the lightweight division, the rematch carries significant title implications for both men.
UFC 331 also features a rebooked featherweight clash between Renato Moicano and Brian Ortega, along with bouts pairing Charles Jourdain against Marlon Vera and Dooho Choi against Patricio Freire.
