Mayweather-Zambidis cleared after judge denies TRO attempt
Floyd Mayweather's exhibition against Mike Zambidis will proceed after a federal judge denied a temporary restraining order request filed by CSI, according to ESPN.
The promoter had sued for breach of contract and sought to block the fight. The judge ruled CSI failed to demonstrate irreparable harm, one of the requirements for granting emergency relief.
What the TRO denial means for Mayweather's exhibition plans
The decision clears the way for Mayweather to face Zambidis in what is expected to be a non-sanctioned exhibition bout. CSI's underlying lawsuit over the alleged contract violation remains active, but the company will not be able to stop the fight from happening while the case moves through the courts.
Mayweather has fought exclusively in exhibitions since his 2017 stoppage of Conor McGregor. Zambidis, a former kickboxing champion, has dabbled in professional boxing in recent years.
No official date for the Mayweather-Zambidis bout has been publicly announced.
