Bill Haney: Shakur Stevenson hasn't responded to Devin fight offer

Bill Haney says Shakur Stevenson has not answered his son's proposal for a catchweight bout, according to an interview with Ring Magazine reported by Bad Left Hook.

The trainer said Devin Haney floated a 144-pound agreement publicly but received no response. "Shakur hasn't responded to the 144 lb agreement [he proposed], that Devin Haney said he would have with him," Haney told the outlet. "[Devin] put it on there for the people and we haven't gotten an answer or a response."

Tank Davis tops Haney's wishlist at 144 or above

Gervonta Davis remains the elder Haney's preferred matchup, with ongoing talks between Team Haney and PBC adviser Al Haymon. Bill Haney confirmed those discussions are "real" and stressed any weight floor would be 144 pounds minimum. "Never has anyone said anything about dehydration, rehydration or anything for that matter," he said. "So, what I think it should be is a fair fight and that weight is to be determined but it won't be anything under 144 lbs for nobody in the world."

On mandatory challenger Keyshawn Davis, Haney described the WBO order as "a great opportunity to be for Devin to be forced to buy more Rolls Royces, houses, and all the other things." He added Keyshawn was already on their radar before the sanctioning body stepped in. Jaron Ennis is another candidate, though Haney noted the Philadelphia welterweight's toughest rounds came when Xander Zayas boxed him at range.

Ryan Garcia sits at number 10 on the team's wish-list and will stay there until he enrolls in long-term VADA testing, the trainer said. Devin Haney has not fought since losing to Garcia in April 2024, a result later ruled a no-contest after Garcia tested positive for ostarine. The camp has submitted its ranked opponent list to Saudi adviser Turki Alalshikh but is still waiting on firm commitments from the top names.
